The climate for Sedona is high desert with four mild seasons. The weather in Sedona is delightful! It is warmer than Flagstaff and cooler than Phoenix. Sedona's average annual rainfall is 17.15 (precipitation) inches per year. Sedona average temperature in the "winter" is 59 high and 29.7 low;"summer" temperatures are as high as 100 and 65 low degrees F. Sight Seeing Slide Rock State Park- located 8 miles north of Sedona in Oak Creek Canyon. Mother Nature’s natural water slide will make a big splash with the kids! (928-282-3034) Red Rock State Park- on Lower Red Rock Loop Road off of W. Hwy 89A. Established as a center for environmental education, the 286 acre park is surrounded by red rocks (928-282-6907) Red Rock Crossing/ Crescent Moon Ranch- take W. Hwy 89A to Upper Red Rock Loop Road to one of the most photographed scenes in the U.S. Picnic tables available but no overnight camping. Fee Required. Chapel of the Holy Cross- about 3 miles south of the ‘Y’ (the stop light at the intersection of Hwy 89A and 179). A shrine of intriguing contemporary architecture built into the red rocks in 1956 Honanki- From the ‘Y’ in Sedona, go 9 miles west on Hwy 89A to FR 525. Turn right on FR 525 (dirt road) and follow approximately 10 miles to Honanki. Sinagua ruin and rock art site situated in the red rock cliffs at the base of Loy Butte. Fee Required. Jerome- 37 miles southwest of Sedona, take a trip back in history to the old mining town perched high on Cleopatra Hill. State Historic Park recounts the mining history so important to Arizona. Activities Sedona Arts Center- Artists and art lovers flock to this cultural center where one can view exhibits, purchase works from local artists or partake in educational courses. Shopping Tlaquepaque- Visit this recreated Mexican village and find delicious restaurants plus galleries and stores that feature local crafts and works of art. |
